Tagaloa x La Ruche ’24

Myrtle House presents an opportunity to race this stunning Tagaloa x La Ruche colt, who has already completed his breaking-in preparation. He is an impressive physical specimen with a lovely action and has already shown an excellent attitude towards his work.

A Group 1-winning two-year-old, Tagaloa claimed the Blue Diamond Stakes, joining prominent sires Extreme Choice and Pride Of Dubai on the honour roll. Tagaloa sired a Stakes winner in his first crop when his filly Spicy Lu won three in a row, culminating in victory in the Listed Fernhill Mile.

His three-year-olds have continued to make their mark. Striking grey filly Salty Pearl captured the Group 2 Fillies Classic at The Valley and was placed in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes during the Autumn Carnival. Spicy Lu added a second Stakes victory in the Group 3 Ethereal Stakes at Caulfield. Alottago, Tagline, Teine Aulelei and Itazura continued his fantastic season with further Stakes performances, while his second-crop two-year-olds included Group 1 Inglis Sires produce placegetter Miss Chanel.

La Ruche is a daughter of Shamus Award out of a Montjeu mare, bringing together the influential Danehill and Sadler’s Wells bloodlines. She is in fact a 5/8ths sister to ROLL ON HIGH, hailing from the family of VRC Derby and Spring Champion Stakes winner Monaco Consul. La Ruche was trained at Myrtle House and developed into a lovely mare with plenty of strength through her shoulder and hindquarter, attributes she has certainly passed on to this colt.

La Ruche’s first foal is the two-year-old Saxon Warrior filly Lady Beauvoir. She is currently in our Flemington stable and is approaching her debut. She has really pleased us to date and we are excited to get her to the races.

Our colt has completed his breaking-in preparation, and our breaker described him as “a natural colt, a good kind horse that loves his work.” He handled the preparation beautifully and undoubtedly grew and strengthened throughout the process. While he was still enjoying his time in the stable, we elected to give him a spell to ensure he finished the prep on a positive note. He has returned recently for his next preparation and he has continued to grow out very well.

This colt provides an exciting opportunity to get involved with the stable in a horse that could be up and going early, while also possessing the scope to train on into his Classic year and beyond.
